Thanks Colleen and welcome aboard!

BEST OF L.A.’S LIVE MUSIC SCENE THIS WEEK

By: Colleen Donnelly

July 20 – The New Pornographers w/ The Dodos and Imaad Wasif @ The Music Box (Fonda)

Forget the idea of a ten-piece band. This group of incredibly talented songsters is pretty much an orchestra. The New Pornographers headline night 2 of their stint at the Music Box tonight with The Dodos and Imaad Wasif. Koffeehouse teamed up with Goldenvoice to promote tonight’s show and Koffehouse announced its winners last night at midnight who each receive a pair of tickets: Sonia Chaisson, Sara Dunaj, Nubia Vemeo and Meghan Thompson. Congrats! A few tickets are still available through Ticketmaster to see this Canadian Indie Rock super group. (http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0900446D836A1616)

July 21 – Keane, Fran Healy of Travis, Ingrid Michaelson & Bess Rogers @ Greek Theatre, Chris Shiflett (Foo Fighters) @ Hotel Cafe and Jamie Cullum @ the Ford Amphitheatre

What are the odds that six of our faves are performing together on the same night?! Thought the show at The Greek would be sold out by now but good news everyone as there are still upper mezzanine level tickets available for this must-see at the Greek. Keane’s back strong with a rockin’ new sound, Ingrid’s angelic voice always delivers, Bess’ soft sound plays sweetly with her witty lyrics and ladies, you’ll melt as Fran strums his guitar. If you can’t get tickets for the show at the Greek, check out Chris Shiflett from the Foo Fighters with his band Chris Shiflett & The Dead Peasants at Hotel Café at 10:30PM, or check out the incredible Jamie Cullum over at the Ford Amphitheatre!

July 22 – Barenaked Ladies, Kris Allen, Angel Taylor @ Greek Theatre

It’s a busy week at The Greek. And this Thursday, don’t miss American Idol’s Kris Allen and Miss Angel Taylor herself, opening for veteran band Barenaked Ladies. “Pinch Me,” ‘cause this is too good to be true.

July 23 – Tyrone Wells @ Hotel Café and Delta Spirit @ El Rey

Koffeehouse friend and favorite Tyrone Wells plays night 3 of his July residency over at Hotel Café. The first two shows sold-out in advance, so get your tickets now at www.hotelcafe.com. Also, the Long Beach band Delta Spirit, are also in concert over at the El Rey. If you miss out on Tyrone tickets, give ‘em a whirl to witness their magical way of mending life’s hardships through song. It’s the type of music that has it’s own heartbeat.

July 24 – Pat McGee @ The Mint

Check out Richmond, Virginia-native indie rocker Pat McGee at 8:30pm at The Mint.

July 25 – Everclear @ the Ford Amphitheatre and Jimmy Cliff @ The Hollywood Bowl

On Sunday night, Jimmy Cliff plays over at the Hollywood Bowl (who is currently touring with our friend Trevor Hall), while Everclear, Adrienne Pierce and Ari Shine play the Ford Amphitheatre.

On the Horizon…4th Annual “Evening of Independence” at the Ford Amphitheatre (Saturday, August 7)
